Redmire to Castle Bolton, Dent’s House, Preston under Scar and back
I know I keep on saying this but I am still amazed as to how many footpaths I haven’t walked, it’s really quite mind boggling as to how many miles of paths and tracks there are in the glorious Yorkshire dales and Nidderdale and how they intertwine with one another.
Hawes in Upper Wensleydale in the glorious Yorkshire Dales
A town for all seasons? A total cliché but totally true, come anytime of year and truly immerse yourself in country life and the countryside. Market day every Tuesday, pubs, cafes, restaurants and of course miles upon miles of walking up hill and down dale!
The Fabulous Swaledale Festival coming up 25 May to 8 June 2019
Again an amazing programme to enjoy for fifteen exciting days in May and early June not only in Swaledale but Wensleydale too, Richmond Georgian Theatre, local churches and other local venues and villages.
The Sandpiper Inn in Leyburn, Wensleydale
Our walking group decided we should have an evening meal together near to Christmas, as you do, and chose the Sandpiper Inn in Leyburn. None of us having been there for a while felt it was a good opportunity to try the place again.
The Little White Bus in Wensleydale in the glorious Yorkshire Dales
My friend Wanda and I thought we’d have an adventure and catch the Little White Bus to Askrigg and then on to Hawes. Wanda, from sunny Scarborough, has stayed in our holiday cottages before and felt like a trip up the dale.
The Wensleydale Heifer in West Witton and Two Glasses of Fizz!
Joanne and I were invited to a really lovely event at the Wensleydale Heifer in West Witton in Wensleydale, a thank you lunch. Around sixty people were there who all offer bed and breakfast or let holiday cottages and who, throughout the year, had helped to promote the Wensleydale Heifer each in their own small way.
Great things happening in the Yorkshire Dales and surrounds in the lead up to Christmas 2018!
There’s always fun and excitement in December, as everywhere, with Christmas trees appearing, along with the usual Christmas decorations. Carols wafting on the breeze as you wander round the towns and just a general hum getting louder as the big day approaches!
Circular walk by Addlebrough, taking in Bainbridge and Askrigg and back to Thornton Rust in Wensleydale
Another fantastic walk, about ten miles in all, pretty easy going for most of the way and some fabulous views across to Semer Water and the splendour of Wensleydale in the glorious Yorkshire Dales. Again, take your map for reference as my directions may be quite sparse but will give you a very good idea of the route we took.
The Yoredale Way, an interesting walking trail in the wondrous Yorkshire Dales
Someone rang the other day to book a holiday, as you lovely people tend to do, in fact it was two Country Hideaways holidays, two consecutive weeks to be precise. The first week was in Lion Cottage in Bainbridge and the second at Holly Tree Cottage in East Witton.
Walking on Wether Fell above Hawes in Wensleydale in the glorious Yorkshire Dales
The hills above Hawes in upper Wensleydale are places I’ve not really explored in all the time I’ve lived here, can’t really understand why but not for much longer I feel after a wonderful walk around Wether Fell.
