Just a few ideas of things happening in the glorious Yorkshire dales to delight you in February
It may be the winter months but there’s still things happening in the dales for you to delight in, here just a few ideas to be going with!
Circular walk from Carlton in Coverdale in the glorious Yorkshire Dales
Now firstly before you start to read about the route please be aware that there are lots of stiles on this walk, not very often there aren’t any at all but this has a lot, we all commented on it! Other than that a really great walk with wonderful views up Coverdale to Little Whernside and Greater Whernside.
Circular Walk of over ten miles from Cover Bridge in Wensleydale
I think it’s becoming quite a regular walk from Cover Bridge for me, twice in two weeks! But this time I was leading and so thought it would make a change to go in a clockwise direction rather than the usual anticlockwise direction. It always puts a different perspective to go the ‘other way round’, you could even say it was a different walk.
Lovely walk from Fairhurst’s at Berry’s in Swinithwaite in a circular manner
Our walking group decided to walk from Fairhurst’s at Berry’s in Swinithwaite. The walk was about four miles in total and easy going but the weather was not good, not good at all when we were getting ready. I really didn’t want to set off but was persuaded, as I would be, and so pleased I was as the afternoon cleared out and we had a stunning walk
A walk from West Burton of bridges, valleys, a couple of villages and stunning views
On a very windy January morning I set off from home in West Burton, didn’t really know where I felt like walking but in the end had a walk with stunning views, easy valleys, a couple of villages and survived the wind! About five miles depending on detours.
Here’s wishing you all a very merry Christmas and a great New Year!
Here’s wishing you all very happy Christmas and a great New Year celebration. What will 2020 bring? Exciting times? Perhaps, perhaps not! But whatever, the dales are always here for you to enjoy with a warm welcome.
Carols by Candlelight at Fountains Abbey in Ripon
What a lovely Christmassy experience we had last Sunday in the run up to Christmas. A short walk takes us from Fountains Abbey reception to the abbey itself, a most impressive building as you would expect from a World Heritage Site.
Our visit to Alice in Winterland at Lightwater Valley Theme Park by Millie, Daughter and Grand Daughter
On 21 November, Country Hideaways was invited to an exclusive night for the opening of Alice In Winterland at Lightwater Valley, so of course I said that I would like to go too. On our drive up to the car park, through the trees we could see some lovely brightly coloured lights. ‘What are they?’ we all thought. When we went in, one of the first things we saw was a pair of upside-down blue legs in a hole - obviously this was Alice when she falls down the rabbit hole. We looked to our left and there was a giant rabbit lantern, and we hadn't even seen anything compared to what was on its way!
Circular walk from Redmire in Wensleydale in the glorious Yorkshire Dales
A lovely circular walk from Redmire village green with wonderful views across to Penhill and Wensleydale, into Walden and Bishopdale, also Bolton Castle on returning to Redmire. About four and half miles the perfect walk for a morning or afternoon.
Our visit to Brymor in the school holidays by Millie, daughter and grand daughter
During the school holidays we thought it would be nice to go to Brymor Ice Cream Parlour with some friends. I walked in and looked at the menu board. There was a massive amount of choices making it almost impossible to decide which one I wanted.
