Lovely walk from Fairhurst’s at Berry’s in Swinithwaite in a circular manner
Our walking group decided to walk from Fairhurst’s at Berry’s in Swinithwaite. The walk was about four miles in total and easy going but the weather was not good, not good at all when we were getting ready. I really didn’t want to set off but was persuaded, as I would be, and so pleased I was as the afternoon cleared out and we had a stunning walk
A walk from West Burton of bridges, valleys, a couple of villages and stunning views
On a very windy January morning I set off from home in West Burton, didn’t really know where I felt like walking but in the end had a walk with stunning views, easy valleys, a couple of villages and survived the wind! About five miles depending on detours.
When is a hamlet a village and the other way round?
I thought I might mention some of the tiny settlements in the dale and felt I had a good idea as to the difference between a hamlet and a village, i.e. the number of inhabitants or houses there but interestingly there is more to it.
From the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes in a circular manner
It’s coming up to Christmas and our ladies walking group thought it would be a nice idea to gather together for the last walk of the year and to finish with lunch afterwards.
Circular walk from Redmire in Wensleydale in the glorious Yorkshire Dales
A lovely circular walk from Redmire village green with wonderful views across to Penhill and Wensleydale, into Walden and Bishopdale, also Bolton Castle on returning to Redmire. About four and half miles the perfect walk for a morning or afternoon.
Hard Banks Ice Cream Parlour and Coffee Shop, just off the A684 in between Aysgarth and Bainbridge in Wensleydale
The latest news in the glorious Yorkshire Dales is the recently opened new ice parlour! We thought we’d give it a go, we had our grandson George staying for the weekend and thought he might appreciate going and having a look too!
Our visit to Brymor in the school holidays by Millie, daughter and grand daughter
During the school holidays we thought it would be nice to go to Brymor Ice Cream Parlour with some friends. I walked in and looked at the menu board. There was a massive amount of choices making it almost impossible to decide which one I wanted.
West Burton, Thoralby, Bishopdale, Aysgarth and home in a circular manner
If you're looking for a longer walk, then set off from West Burton, about nine and a half miles, or a shorter one, set off from Thoralby. Please do make sure you plan your route on the map before hand and wear appropriate footwear and clothing. Always take a drink and a snack, if not lunch, with you.
Our visit to the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes
Joanne and I made our way through the most beautiful countryside to Hawes and to the Wensleydale Creamery, it’s been a while since we last went but had heard that a lot had been happening since we were there.
Celebrating the 138th Anniversary of the Hardraw Scar Brass Band Festival near Hawes
What a wonderful afternoon spent listening to the brass bands at Hardraw Scar in Wensleydale in the glorious Yorkshire Dales an event always held near the beginning of September. It’s quite a few years since we’ve been and none of the magic had disappeared from what I remember.
