The Fabulous annual Swaledale Festival! 23 May until 6 June 2020

The fabulous Swaledale Festival will be held this year from 23 May until 6 June.  A truly fantastic and varied programme of music, arts and walking all held in a variety of places and venues in Swaledale and Wensleydale in the glorious Yorkshire Dales.

June is such a pretty month, the trees are in full leaf but still with their spring green, wild flowers abound and there’s lots going on too with just a few ideas for you to be going on with here.

Redmire to Castle Bolton, Dent’s House, Preston under Scar and back

I know I keep on saying this but I am still amazed as to how many footpaths I haven’t walked, it’s really quite mind boggling as to how many miles of paths and tracks there are in the glorious Yorkshire dales and Nidderdale and how they intertwine with one another.

The Fabulous Swaledale Festival coming up 25 May to 8 June 2019

Again an amazing programme to enjoy for fifteen exciting days in May and early June not only in Swaledale but Wensleydale too, Richmond Georgian Theatre, local churches and other local venues and villages.

The Sandpiper Inn in Leyburn, Wensleydale

Our walking group decided we should have an evening meal together near to Christmas, as you do, and chose the Sandpiper Inn in Leyburn. None of us having been there for a while felt it was a good opportunity to try the place again.

Great things happening in the Yorkshire Dales and surrounds in the lead up to Christmas 2018!

There’s always fun and excitement in December, as everywhere, with Christmas trees appearing, along with the usual Christmas decorations. Carols wafting on the breeze as you wander round the towns and just a general hum getting louder as the big day approaches!

Circular Walk from Leyburn, along The Shawl, over Lords Bridge and back to Leyburn in the glorious Yorkshire Dales

Well, I suppose that just about sums it up, the title that is but what a really lovely walk. Start from Leyburn and follow the sign for The Shawl from Commercial Square. Follow the path along the side the children’s playing field, on through the wood, beware of the exposed tree roots, I nearly came a cropper!
