June is such a pretty month, the trees are in full leaf but still with their spring green, wild flowers abound and there’s lots going on too with just a few ideas for you to be going on with here.
The annual Dales Food and and Drink Festival will be held in Leyburn market place as usual over the week of 15 and 16 June. A free event to enjoy celebrating the wonderful food and drink produced in our area. Not only are there over 80 stalls but there will be cookery demonstrations and cheese making demonstrations. The Leyburn Band, Muker Silver Band, Hartlepool Ukulele Band and Hollywood Boredome will entertain us. Check out the programme on their website.Dales Festival of Food and Drink 2019
The Flowers of the Dales festival is well underway and goes on throughout the year until October with 125 wildflower and nature events everyone can enjoy. Don’t forget to have a wander round Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal or on a Saturday you can join in with parkrun, we’re told that this one is the most popular route amongst the runners! Stroll amongst the trees at Thorpe Perrow Arboretum, soak in the spectacle of Newby Hall, the Himalyans Gardens is a must see. Let the kids run off some steam at Ariel Extreme near Bedale and at Camp Hill Estate or be truly amazed at Forbidden Corner.
