Walking from Grinton along the Swale Trail

Having never heard of the Swale Trail I was intrigued! This a 12 mile long trail for cyclists of all abilities setting off from Reeth and finishing in Keld, fairly easy going for most of the way with more inclines as you near Keld. Wonderful views as you would expect sometimes in sight of the River Swale.

Redmire to Castle Bolton, Dent’s House, Preston under Scar and back

I know I keep on saying this but I am still amazed as to how many footpaths I haven’t walked, it’s really quite mind boggling as to how many miles of paths and tracks there are in the glorious Yorkshire dales and Nidderdale and how they intertwine with one another.

The Little White Bus in Wensleydale in the glorious Yorkshire Dales

My friend Wanda and I thought we’d have an adventure and catch the Little White Bus to Askrigg and then on to Hawes. Wanda, from sunny Scarborough, has stayed in our holiday cottages before and felt like a trip up the dale.

Circular walk by Addlebrough, taking in Bainbridge and Askrigg and back to Thornton Rust in Wensleydale

Another fantastic walk, about ten miles in all, pretty easy going for most of the way and some fabulous views across to Semer Water and the splendour of Wensleydale in the glorious Yorkshire Dales. Again, take your map for reference as my directions may be quite sparse but will give you a very good idea of the route we took.

Walking on Wether Fell above Hawes in Wensleydale in the glorious Yorkshire Dales

The hills above Hawes in upper Wensleydale are places I’ve not really explored in all the time I’ve lived here, can’t really understand why but not for much longer I feel after a wonderful walk around Wether Fell.

Circular Walk from West Witton to Penhill Beacon and Trig Point in Wensleydale

My friend Denny and I have been walking the Yorkshire Dales together more than usual just lately (Den is the one in the picture) we’re in training to attempt the National Three Peaks, Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike, and Mount Snowdon beginning of June

Humble Pie in Askrigg in Wensleydale in the glorious Yorkshire Dales

Humble Pie, where does the name come from? When I’m next in Askrigg I’ll call in and ask Elizabeth and Betty. Mother and daughter team have returned to their little shop, Elizabeth opening it first of all in 1999

Askrigg, Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales

Askrigg is known to many still by its association with the very popular television programme All Creatures and Small. A village of many parts you could say, historic St Oswald’s seemingly placed in the centre for all

Walking from Askrigg in Wensleydale in a circular manner!

What a beautiful, clear autumn day to walk from Askrigg, mid Wensleydale with our walking group, in the glorious Yorkshire Dales, a comfortable walk of about four and a half miles and mostly easy terraine.
