A Day of Waterfalls in wonderful Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales
I wondered if it might be a nice idea to have a day visiting the waterfalls found in Wensleydale, you may already have bet me to it and done them, please excuse if so. There will be too many in total to visit in just one day, lots of little ones dotted on the map, tried to ‘Google’ how many but no information, so perhaps some of the main ones for starters.

June is such a pretty month, the trees are in full leaf but still with their spring green, wild flowers abound and there’s lots going on too with just a few ideas for you to be going on with here.
Bluebells, Aysgarth Falls, Thoralby, Newbiggin, West Burton
It’s May and the time of year for bluebells and they are quite magnificent, must have been the perfect weather for them. We do have lots of places where you can wander through bluebell woods, Hackfall Wood and Nutwith Wood near Masham, Cauldron Falls at West Burton, Freeholders Wood near Aysgarth Falls but thought it would be nice to combine a walk with bluebells, spectacular views and not too far. The Tour de Yorkshire comes to the glorious Yorkshire Dales
Wow! What an exciting May Bank holiday weekend! The Tour de Yorkshire came through on Friday and Sunday. We were at the finish line in Bedale on Friday and then on Sunday watched them all going past in Masham.
Circular Walk from West Burton, past Aysgarth Falls and St Andrew’s Church
Easter Saturday and yet another glorious day, going to be even hotter than yesterday me thinks. Setting off for my usual morning walk I thought it would be nice to have a treat on the way round and stop for an ice cream at The Mill Race Tea Shop, they sell Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream, excellent choice!
Circular Walk from Richmond Racecourse
I didn’t even know there was a racecourse in Richmond, sadly it’s no longer used as a racecourse but it definitely was and was definitely used as such. Race meetings were held until 1891 when poor attendances resulted in its closure.
Tour de Yorkshire 2019
Excitement is definitely brewing in the dales for the arrival of the Tour de Yorkshire over the weekend of 2 until 5 May with 38 teams competing. 3 May is Stage 2 for the men and Stage 1 for the women arriving in Harrogate from around 3pm onwards,
Walking from Grinton along the Swale Trail
Having never heard of the Swale Trail I was intrigued! This a 12 mile long trail for cyclists of all abilities setting off from Reeth and finishing in Keld, fairly easy going for most of the way with more inclines as you near Keld. Wonderful views as you would expect sometimes in sight of the River Swale.
Coverbridge to Coverbridge in Wensleydale in a circular manner
Our little walking group set off on a beautiful March morning, the birds were determined to sing above our chatter and it wasn’t long before the early morning clouds disappeared and we were stripping off the layers, it was nearly hot even! A walk of many contrasts, about ten miles, with sensational views towards the North York Moors and into Wensleydale, a few villages to explore, moorland, lush pastureland and the river Ure almost constantly in sight.
