The Excitement of Steppingstones in the glorious Yorkshire Dales
A few weeks ago Geoff, my husband, and I did a short walk, nearly three miles, from Cover Bridge along the river bank in the direction of Middleham in Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales. The walk I’ll recount below.
My back has gone into spasm so no walking!
Just over a month ago a very silly thing happened, I was bending down to pick up the vacuum cleaner and ping my back goes into spasm, didn’t even reach the thing in question! Anyone who has experienced this, and I think I’m one of many, will understand the excruciating pain and total immobility, for a while at least!
Circular walk from Carlton in Coverdale in the glorious Yorkshire Dales
Now firstly before you start to read about the route please be aware that there are lots of stiles on this walk, not very often there aren’t any at all but this has a lot, we all commented on it! Other than that a really great walk with wonderful views up Coverdale to Little Whernside and Greater Whernside.
Circular Walk of over ten miles from Cover Bridge in Wensleydale
I think it’s becoming quite a regular walk from Cover Bridge for me, twice in two weeks! But this time I was leading and so thought it would make a change to go in a clockwise direction rather than the usual anticlockwise direction. It always puts a different perspective to go the ‘other way round’, you could even say it was a different walk.
Lovely walk from Fairhurst’s at Berry’s in Swinithwaite in a circular manner
Our walking group decided to walk from Fairhurst’s at Berry’s in Swinithwaite. The walk was about four miles in total and easy going but the weather was not good, not good at all when we were getting ready. I really didn’t want to set off but was persuaded, as I would be, and so pleased I was as the afternoon cleared out and we had a stunning walk
A walk from West Burton of bridges, valleys, a couple of villages and stunning views
On a very windy January morning I set off from home in West Burton, didn’t really know where I felt like walking but in the end had a walk with stunning views, easy valleys, a couple of villages and survived the wind! About five miles depending on detours.
From the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes in a circular manner
It’s coming up to Christmas and our ladies walking group thought it would be a nice idea to gather together for the last walk of the year and to finish with lunch afterwards.
Circular walk from Ilton near Masham walking Leighton and Roundhill Reservoirs
A walk of about ten miles walking through pastureland, over moors and past two reservoirs with stunning views for most of the way. Please do plan your route before you set off, where appropriate clothing and good boots (it can get wet in places) and of course, drinks and snacks if not a packed lunch.
Circular walk from Redmire in Wensleydale in the glorious Yorkshire Dales
A lovely circular walk from Redmire village green with wonderful views across to Penhill and Wensleydale, into Walden and Bishopdale, also Bolton Castle on returning to Redmire. About four and half miles the perfect walk for a morning or afternoon.
West Burton, Thoralby, Bishopdale, Aysgarth and home in a circular manner
If you're looking for a longer walk, then set off from West Burton, about nine and a half miles, or a shorter one, set off from Thoralby. Please do make sure you plan your route on the map before hand and wear appropriate footwear and clothing. Always take a drink and a snack, if not lunch, with you.
