Lovely circular walk from Hawes

A lovely short walk from Hawes, Upper Wensleydale, the perfect stroll whatever time of day. Easy going on the south side of Hawes, below Wether Fell, open views across Wensleydale, less than four miles. Even though it’s a short walk, please do prepare your route beforehand and wear appropriate clothing and footwear, don’t forget to pack drinks and snacks.

Park in Hawes and walk along the A684 in the direction of Leyburn, pass the Auction Mart and Carrs Billington and after the few houses on the right and before Wensleydale Press look out for the finger post to Burtersett one and a half miles. Through here and follow the path to Burtersett making sure to follow the path up hill to the right, south, rather than walk to the road into Burtersett. As you near the houses on your right you will see a little building with a blue door, walk past here onto a narrow path to bring you out in Burtersett. Turn right and follow the track into the fields. Follow the stiles now, more or less west, until you eventually come out onto the road going down into Gayle, Beggarman’s Road.

Follow the road down from Gayle. Before you get to the Wensleydale Creamery you will find a finger post indicating the Pennine Way on the right hand side. Turn into here and walk along the path back into Hawes.
