THUPTON GILL IN SOUTH WALDEN TO FLEENSOP IN COVERDALE AND BACK INTO WALDEN IN THE YORKSHIRE DALES

A bit of a surprise walk the other day! Our son Paul text me to ask if I would like to join him on a walk, I’d already been out…

JERVAULX ABBEY IN BETWEEN MASHAM AND EAST WITTON IN THE YORKSHIRE DALES

Jervaulx Abbey can easily be found between Masham and Ripon just off the A6108. A truly tranquil yet atmospheric place to find peace and quiet and loved by many. Wander…

Wensley Bridge to Middleham, along The Gallops, down to West Witton, returning by the River Ure

What a fabulous walk my friend Den and I did the other day. Was it all the wildlife we saw? Geese, herons, skylarks, curlews, oystercatchers amongst them. Was it because the sun shone yet we could see others weren’t enjoying the same?

A beautiful walk from West Burton into Bishopdale, not to be missed!

Yes, we are in lockdown but the Yorkshire Dales are still here waiting for you whenever you’re ready and able to return. January 2021 hasn’t been the best of months weather wise, it is winter after all, or has it just seemed so because of the situation we are all in. However on a good, clear, very still day with the ground hard and crunchy under foot I set off in the direction of Bishopdale.

Circular walk from Richmond to find Willance’s Leap

On a bright, shining, truly stunning winter’s day we set off from Richmond in a westerly direction to find the monument at Willance’s Leap, an interesting if gory story but well worth a read and well worth walking to!

Crackpots Mosaic Trail near Kirkby Malzeard, between Masham and Ripon, in the Nidderdale AONB

What could be nicer than walking with your daughter in wonderful countryside in the Yorkshire Dales? Not a lot, for me anyway, unless I’m walking with both my daughter and my son. Joanne and I have been talking about doing the Crackpots Mosaic Trail for a little while, others I know have walked the trail so it came recommended and we weren’t disappointed.

Circular walk from Wensley, through the park to Preston under Scar, Redmire and back along side the River Ure

On a beautiful autumn afternoon my friend Denny and I set off from Wensley Bridge at Wensley near Leyburn in the Yorkshire Dales. The footpaths we were going to follow we’ve walked many times before but never really as the route we had planned.

Circular walk from Leyburn to Cover Bridge on to Middleham and back all in beautiful Wensleydale

Having walked these following footpaths many times but never in the order or at the same time it turned out to be a really super walk. No steep climbs, river side footpaths, time to explore if you wish and about eight miles or more

Circular walk from Swinton Bivouac near Masham to Leighton and Roundhill Reservoirs and back via Ilton in the Nidderdale AONB

Nidderdale AONB was our destination and our route began just over four miles from Masham. On a good autumn morning we parked and set off on our walk from Swinton Bivouac, along to Leighton and Roundhill Reservoirs, up on to the moor and back down to Ilton and returning to the bivouac for lunch.

Circular walk from Buckden on to Yockenthwaite to Cray and back to Buckden in Wharfedale

On an absolutely perfect autumn day we set off from Buckden to walk to Yockenthwaite over to Cray and back down to Buckden. About seven miles, couple of short steep climbs but otherwise quite easy going with terrific views for most of the way.
