The Fabulous annual Swaledale Festival! 23 May until 6 June 2020

The fabulous Swaledale Festival will be held this year from 23 May until 6 June.  A truly fantastic and varied programme of music, arts and walking all held in a variety of places and venues in Swaledale and Wensleydale in the glorious Yorkshire Dales.

Celebrating the 138th Anniversary of the Hardraw Scar Brass Band Festival near Hawes

What a wonderful afternoon spent listening to the brass bands at Hardraw Scar in Wensleydale in the glorious Yorkshire Dales an event always held near the beginning of September. It’s quite a few years since we’ve been and none of the magic had disappeared from what I remember.

For a couple years husband Geoff and I having been enjoying the Richmondshire Concerts as ‘proper’ members and many years before that as guests. The Richmondshire Concerts have been running for over 70 years, featuring professional classical musicians

The Tour de Yorkshire comes to the glorious Yorkshire Dales

Wow! What an exciting May Bank holiday weekend! The Tour de Yorkshire came through on Friday and Sunday. We were at the finish line in Bedale on Friday and then on Sunday watched them all going past in Masham.

Tour de Yorkshire 2019

Excitement is definitely brewing in the dales for the arrival of the Tour de Yorkshire over the weekend of 2 until 5 May with 38 teams competing. 3 May is Stage 2 for the men and Stage 1 for the women arriving in Harrogate from around 3pm onwards,

Tree planting with the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust in Bishopdale

What fun Joanne and I had last Saturday morning in Bishopdale, it was a free event organised by the YDMT and part of this year’s Flowers of the Dales Festival. Essential work in practical conservation and couldn’t be done without all the volunteers who come and spend some time planting native broadleaved trees in our glorious Yorkshire Dales.
