The Queen’s Head in Finghall

The Queen's Head in Finghall

Geoff and I have been married for over fifty years and we thought it would be a nice idea to go out with the family for a meal. Our anniversary is 9th January and it was just after the snow had arrived. We decided on the Queen’s Head in Finghall, in Wensleydale, which is on a low hill on a very minor road so were unsure as to whether we would get there or not. I rang the pub and a very nice gentleman said the road was quite passable and the carpark was clear but icy. Table booked for six of us, ‘Could we be where it’s warm please?’ ‘No problem!’ We duly arrived and were greeted with such a warm welcome, both by the people there and by two glorious wood burning stoves.

Soon we were settled by the fire, menus handed out, drinks were on their way and very appropriate music playing, for me and Geoff anyway! It was all just lovely, we hadn’t been to the pub for quite a while and the interior has now all been renovated but still has a certain charm to it. Nothing was too much trouble, the food ordered and soon arrived which was all delicious and very nicely presented.

Do try the Queen’s Head, always best to ring to make sure they are open and to book, I think through the winter months at least they are closed on Monday and Tuesday.

As with my previous blog Finghall is an interesting village and great for a stroll around. You’ll even find longer walks through Finghall on here too.

Come and experience the Queen’s Head and stay at one of our beautiful Country Hideaways holiday cottages which are all within easy travelling distance to Finghall. Do call me, Nadine, or my daughter Joanne, on 01969 663559 for friendly help and advice and to book over the telephone or do book online if you prefer.

Looking forward to hearing from you quite soon.
