A lovely circular walk from Redmire village green with wonderful views across to Penhill and Wensleydale, into Walden and Bishopdale, also Bolton Castle on returning to Redmire. About four and half miles the perfect walk for a morning or afternoon.

If you're looking for a longer walk, then set off from West Burton, about nine and a half miles, or a shorter one, set off from Thoralby. Please do make sure you plan your route on the map before hand and wear appropriate footwear and clothing. Always take a drink and a snack, if not lunch, with you.

What fun Joanne and I had last Saturday morning in Bishopdale, it was a free event organised by the YDMT and part of this year’s Flowers of the Dales Festival. Essential work in practical conservation and couldn’t be done without all the volunteers who come and spend some time planting native broadleaved trees in our glorious Yorkshire Dales.

Did you know you can experience being a ranger in the glorious Yorkshire Dales National Park for the day and see for yourselves just what rangers do during their working day. There are various days to choose from and various venues too! Just bring yourselves and your enthusiasm along with snacks, drink and packed lunch and probably your wellies, oh and you need to bring an adult with you also! Don’t forget!
Circular walk into Walden from West Burton in Wensleydale
A lovely walk from the Cauldron Falls in West Burton into Walden and back down via the old/now newly planted plantation. Park your car at the waterfall area or by the village green and please wear suitable clothing and good footwear as the route takes you through pasture and moorland. Always a good idea to plan your route and take the map. The walk is about seven miles, quite easy going but some inclines. Fantastic views all the way. Circular walk to Buckden Pike in Wharfedale in the Yorkshire Dales
Another great walk, with simply sensational views, and again it’s a walk I’ve never ventured on before, about nine and a half miles the way we went. Please do take your map for reference, OL30, and remember that even if it’s lovely and warm in the valley bottom it may be freezing cold when you reach the top.
Four Villages Walk from West Burton in the glorious Yorkshire Dales
Well, I hate to say it, but I’ve never done this before, been on these footpaths and through these villages many, many times but never all in one walk! Set off from West Burton, you can park at the waterfall area or park on the road by the green.
