Families can discover a whole host of festive fun as Christmas comes to Lightwater Valley on selected dates from Saturday, 21st November – Wednesday, 23rd December 2020.

Be enchanted by the fantastical family-friendly Alice in Winterland giant lanterns display as the sun sets over the park. Embark on a magical journey to meet the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts and, of course, Alice herself as she embarks on her amazing adventure. Dazzling giant illuminated sculptures will illustrate favourite stories from Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass. Discover a giant chess board, watch the Mad Hatter prepare for his crazy tea party, marvel at the four-metre tall Alice lantern and come face to face with the infamous Queen of Hearts herself.

Visitors of all ages can follow the luminous trail and immerse themselves in a glowing garden with massive mushrooms, illuminated tulips and even a flamingo or two as the evening becomes curiouser and curiouser…

Families can also enjoy some traditional fairground fun including a spin on the carousel and take to the night sky on the Skyrider. New for 2020, families can enjoy glowing entertainment from a special Christmas themed UV Puppet show in the Show Barn and go on the hunt for the cheeky missing elves as they cause mischief around the park.

Little ones can also see Santa on stage and get a chocolate treat before visiting his magical workshop of wonders. Hop aboard the Santa Express and see Lightwater Valley by train.

Food and drink will be on offer so that visitors can indulge in a seasonal glass of something tasty as well as scrumptious treats including waffles and pancakes and bockwurst sausages from the selection of stalls.

Christmas at Lightwater Valley will be open on Saturdays and Sunday from the 21st November. Then open daily from Saturday 19th December – Wednesday 23rd December 2020.

  • The event starts at 1pm and ends at 7pm. The lantern trail will be aglow from 3:30pm as the sun begins to set.
