Wonderful walk in Coverdale yesterday, glorious views, not too many hills, river walks, lots of stiles, wild flowers…………
Park in Carlton Village Hall car park, turn right and then turn right down Quaker Lane, follow the path across fields and to the two bridges and start to climb towards West Scrafton. Cut across fields below West Scrafton, come out onto the road and turn right towards Nathwaite Bridge then take the track on the left just before here. Carry on across fields to Swineside.
Follow the path to Hindlethwaite Hall then across the wooden footbridge and turning right to follow the River Cover to Gammersgill. Walk along the road a few yards then right again turning back into the fields on Turnbeck Lane and back to Carlton and the car park, about six and a half miles, not forgetting to put something in the donation box before leaving.
Please do plan your route and take your OS Explorer Map OL 30, dress appropriately, the weather can change as the English weather does, and wear stout, comfortable footwear, above all stay safe!
