The White Bear in Masham

Have you been to the White Bear in Masham as yet? If not then perhaps if you’re in the area do give it a try. It was our granddaughter’s 17th birthday last Saturday and we went for a meal in the evening to celebrate. It was so good! The food was delicious, with plenty of choice even for picky teenagers, the staff were brilliant and with a great atmosphere surrounding us we had a brilliant evening, even Millie enjoyed herself! Incidentally Joanne and I went for lunch this week too, both ordered soup and it was excellent, warm homemade bread to accompany too! Apparently the White Bear has become famous for the selection of award-winning cask ales offered, food is home cooked and their Sunday lunch is well renowned and not to be missed.

The White Bear in Masham which is just on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and Nidderdale AONB, is tucked away on Gun Bank, a little road that leaves the A6108 in between the garage and the junction into town on the north side. Plenty of parking but if no room in the pub carpark there is extra space opposite. The place is well cared for, the bar is quite magnificent, with interesting bits adorning the walls, plus, you guessed, a white bear, and dogs are allowed in here. The dining room is spacious and there wasn’t a feeling of being overcrowded although it did look like it was fully booked on the night we went. Always best to book I would have thought.

Masham is an ideal place to spend some time, stay in one of our holiday cottages in or near the town or come for the day and have a mooch. Interesting shops, little wynds to explore, have a peek in St Mary’s Church if open. Loads of lovely walks from the centre with easy parking in the market place. Have a walk, perhaps to Hackfall Woods or to the Druid’s Temple and enjoy lunch on your return or book an evening meal or walk around in the town and do the ‘Swift Walk’ or the ‘Leaf Walk’ you can pick up a leaflet for either of these in the Community Office which is in the Little Market Place.

Come and join us and enjoy a visit to the White Bear. Have a look on our Country Hideaways website to find your perfect cottage to stay. Call me Nadine or my daughter Joanne on 01969 663559 to book over the telephone and for friendly help and advice or of course do book online if you prefer.

Hear from you quite soon!
