The Joys of Autumn in the glorious Yorkshire Dales and Nidderdale AONB

Every year my husband Geoff and I have a discussion about the leaves on the trees in autumn. He always maintains the leaves will be all be on the ground leaving the trees bare by Bonfire Night (sorry to remind you I know there won’t be a Bonfire Night this year) I say the leaves will still be there on the trees! Really we’re both correct, some trees, as you know, lose their leaves pretty quickly like the ash and the horse chestnut and others remain green and proud with varying degrees in between. Of course this makes for the beautiful display of the variegated colours we witness, sometimes I think you can’t really tell between spring and autumn the colours can be so vibrant.

This year we’ve had strong winds and plenty of rain so autumn won’t last long so it’s time to get out and about in the countryside to soak up all that pleasure there is to be had, I do hope you agree. Get  your boots on, wrap up warm and each day will bring wonder and change, clear skies can be stunning with long, long views, no summer haze anymore. Don’t you just love swishing through the fallen leaves, that crunching sound can be so satisfying and if windy you can cause quite a stir of leaves around you!

Think about getting away last minute if you can, take the plunge and come and join us here in the glorious Yorkshire Dales or Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Beauty. The dales are open with the usual restrictions, we’re in Tier 1. Check for availability on our website or call me Nadine or my daughter Joanne on 01969 663559 for friendly help and advice. Do hope to see you soon!
