Walking from West Burton in Wensleydale in a circular manner, a short walk of about 4 miles
I suppose I have done this walk so many times I’ve never thought to relay it here but doing the route the other day felt it was just too good for anyone to miss. Easy going apart from a couple short ascents, lovely views so take your camera, along with your map of course if you’re not sure of the route.
Penhill, in glorious Wensleydale, twice!!
We’re off to scale the heights of Snowdon next week and so with a mind that we should be upping our training thought we should walk up Penhill, not just once but twice! If you’re up for a bit of a challenge, want to keep it local and experience the most fantastic views then read further.
A Day of Waterfalls in wonderful Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales
I wondered if it might be a nice idea to have a day visiting the waterfalls found in Wensleydale, you may already have bet me to it and done them, please excuse if so. There will be too many in total to visit in just one day, lots of little ones dotted on the map, tried to ‘Google’ how many but no information, so perhaps some of the main ones for starters.
Bluebells, Aysgarth Falls, Thoralby, Newbiggin, West Burton
It’s May and the time of year for bluebells and they are quite magnificent, must have been the perfect weather for them. We do have lots of places where you can wander through bluebell woods, Hackfall Wood and Nutwith Wood near Masham, Cauldron Falls at West Burton, Freeholders Wood near Aysgarth Falls but thought it would be nice to combine a walk with bluebells, spectacular views and not too far. So…………………..
Circular Walk from West Burton, past Aysgarth Falls and St Andrew’s Church
Easter Saturday and yet another glorious day, going to be even hotter than yesterday me thinks. Setting off for my usual morning walk I thought it would be nice to have a treat on the way round and stop for an ice cream at The Mill Race Tea Shop, they sell Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream, excellent choice!
Circular walk into Walden from West Burton in Wensleydale
A lovely walk from the Cauldron Falls in West Burton into Walden and back down via the old/now newly planted plantation. Park your car at the waterfall area or by the village green and please wear suitable clothing and good footwear as the route takes you through pasture and moorland. Always a good idea to plan your route and take the map. The walk is about seven miles, quite easy going but some inclines. Fantastic views all the way. If you’re staying at Hill Top Cottage in Walden please pick the route up at the *.
Walking on Wether Fell above Hawes in Wensleydale in the glorious Yorkshire Dales
The hills above Hawes in upper Wensleydale are places I’ve not really explored in all the time I’ve lived here, can’t really understand why but not for much longer I feel after a wonderful walk around Wether Fell.
Circular Walk from West Witton to Penhill Beacon and Trig Point in Wensleydale
My friend Denny and I have been walking the Yorkshire Dales together more than usual just lately (Den is the one in the picture) we’re in training to attempt the National Three Peaks, Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike, and Mount Snowdon beginning of June
Our cottages in Walden dale in the Yorkshire Dales
For the last couple of weeks Joanne and I have been visiting the cottages for their annual inspection by the VisitEngland assessor. Not all cottages are inspected every year but this year first on the list was Grange House and Hill Top Cottage in Walden.
Four Villages Walk from West Burton in the glorious Yorkshire Dales
Well, I hate to say it, but I’ve never done this before, been on these footpaths and through these villages many, many times but never all in one walk! Set off from West Burton, you can park at the waterfall area or park on the road by the green.
