Thornton Rust in Wensleydale, the Yorkshire Dales

Thornton Rust, where does that name come from? Apparently the village was mentioned in the Doomsday Book and you can find out more on Wikipedia. A peaceful village with small greens in front of most of the cottages, a linear village looking down towards the river Ure on its way through Wensleydale.
