Cottage

Description

This elegant and distinctive house with its double bay windows and dressed stone mullions overlooks the large village green at West Burton. Comfortably sleeps eight people plus two dogs. Enclosed garden to the rear and side of the house. Off road parking. Short walk to the pretty Cauldron Falls, excellent village shop, welcoming Fox and Hounds and the butchers. West Burton is a beautiful village with wonderful walks in all directions or travel a little furter and visit Bolton Castle, Ribblehead Viaduct, Aysgarth Falls, Hardrow Force, Leyburn, Hawes, Bedale, Northallertion.

Access on foot from the green is through a small railed patio garden. The main door opens to a small vestibule which in turn leads to a large entrance hall that serves all the ground floor rooms.

To the front of the house are two large lounges; one with an open fire place, the other a flame effect electric fire but both with stylish hearths and surrounds, high ceilings and large panelled bay windows that view over the village Green. To the rear is a large, well equipped kitchen with dining area looking out onto the lawn and garden. An external door from the kitchen provides access to the garden, garage and fuel store.

Between the lounges and kitchen is a small cloakroom, with washbasin and toilet and a stairway with decorative balustrade rising to a landing that gives way to four bedrooms and a bathroom with bath, shower, washbasin and toilet.

Two of the bedrooms have double beds, one with en-suite shower room. The third bedroom has twin beds and the fourth to the rear of the house has a set of pine bunk beds. The three larger bedrooms at the front view out over the green, distant rooftops and beyond into Wensleydale.

There is a large garden to the side and rear of the house that can be reached on foot from the green through a door in the garden wall or by car into the double gated driveway leading to the garage.

From the beautiful Victorian floor tiles in the entrance, the lofty ceilings and deep skirting boards there is an air of style and space throughout. The imaginative use of colour as a backcloth to the fine furnishing and fitments make this accommodation of a very high standard.

Had a fantastic stay at Green Bank, West Burton. The house exceeded expectations and had some really beautiful features - The kitchen and lounges especially so. We were lucky enough to have brilliant weather so after a days walking and a recuperating cup of tea in the front garden it was no hardship to stroll over the village green to The Fox and Hounds for a lovely meal and a couple of pints of Old Peculiar !

We have enjoyed a great week staying in Green Bank, West Burton. Three generations have all had comfortable living and sleeping space and made to feel very welcome indeed, including two dogs! The house is extremely well equipped , a real home from home. The village is not only beautiful but is filled with signs of its history from centuries ago, there are beautiful walks that start from here, and the village Green play area and stunning waterfall keep the youngsters happy too. Luckily this village has a great shop, high quality butchers and a pub which means you don’t need to go much further afield if you don’t want to. Once you’ve been here you will want to return time and time again.

This was our third stay at Green Bank and we always love it. The cottage is very comfortable, and has everything you can possibly need. There is also loads of space, and the open fire with plenty of coal is always a winner after a days walking in the Dales. We will be back for a fourth visit soon.

As an extended family group of 8, we had a wonderful 3 night stay at Green Bank. This beautiful property was spacious, but still felt cosy and homely, and was so well equipped to meet all our needs. The location is unbeatable, with the impressive cauldron waterfall and public footpaths leading to the surrounding hills on the doorstep. The kids thoroughly enjoyed playing football on the village green. Lynda kindly called us during our first evening to ensure everything met our expectations, and the welcome goodies were very much appreciated. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Green Bank to anyone wishing to explore the Yorkshire Dales!

Plenty of space for 5 adults and 2 dogs, with all of the amenities we needed. Lovely location in a peaceful and scenic village, very handy for local walks and plenty of village pubs or a short drive for local tourist attractions and towns. An appreciated welcome pack with some tasty treats to enjoy during our stay and a check in call from the owners to make sure everything was okay. Excellent value for money, would definitely recommend Green Bank to anyone looking for a peaceful and enjoyable stay in the Yorkshire Dales.

We really loved our stay at Green Bank. We were drawn to this cottage by the location and the previous reviews, and it did not disappoint. Possibly the cleanest house I have ever stayed in, they clearly have a great team that look after the place. We really enjoyed the homely comforts and the attention to detail, including the welcome basket. Green Bank provides a great base to explore the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Nidderdale, with some great walks from the front door. We were lucky enough to experience the Kettlewell Scarecrow Festival during our stay. The amazing local ice cream helped us onwards on our way up to Great Whernside. We can strongly recommend the Wheatsheaf Inn at Carperby, a friendly welcome with well kept beer and great local food. Book ahead to avoid disappointment. Less impressed with the local pub, which was a shame, but perhaps for the best given the proximity to the house . We also managed a trip to the Fountaine Inn at Linton for their Wednesday night fish and chips special (£9.95 and delightful) - you've got to love that pub and its surroundings, idyllic. Oh, and at least one or two trips to the delightful breweries in Masham is a must, where the younger members of our family enjoyed playing pool, whilst the older members enjoyed sampling the beer. The cottage itself provides some great living space, ideal for family meals, games and movie nights. Really loved the space and practicality of the kitchen/dining area as well as the choice of living rooms. The beds were super comfy, the towels and bedding luxurious and everything just worked. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending this place to stay, so what are you waiting for, the adventure starts here...

Green Bank is a lovely place to stay. The house is gorgeous, it's location is absolutely stunning and the attention to detail is exceptional. The quality of the towels and bedding is what you would find in a good hotel, the house is spotless and all the extras such as dishwasher tablets and laundry tablets are provided. We stayed originally in May 2016 and it was amazing to return 8 years later and find that everything was as we remembered - including the generous welcome pack.

One of many visits over the years to our favourite cottage and village. Great weather for 5 days. Family from Teesside came for the day on Saturday for the barbecue. Others drove up for the day on Sunday to enjoy the village. Had some lovely walks and visits to local tearooms. Back in November. Cottage has everything one could want and is the perfect home from home.

We have been staying at Green Bank since 2014 usually with our family but this time with friends who were all delighted with what the house had to offer. It is spacious and spotless with every conceivable thing you could possibly need. There is a most generous supply of firewood and coal and masses of kitchen equipment. We love this house and appreciate the services of the owners and Nadine and Joanne.

Green Bank is more than a home from home. It’s top quality in every way. It is pristine in all areas and top quality everything. Linda and David called several times just to see that we had settled in okay and everything was to our satisfaction. It is their own holiday home and there is nothing you could want for. It’s all here! They justly deserve the Gold Tourist Award displayed on the wall. Honestly it’s the best we’ve ever stayed in. And the location, 3 minutes walk from Cauldron Falls is fantastic. Thank you Linda and David.

We enjoyed the space and comfort of the house very much. It was lovely to be able to set up games in the garden or to sit in the front watching the grandchildren play on the green. The two lounges offered space for family chat or a retreat for quiet play of jigsaws and board games (or a football cup final!). We had a busy week with 3 grandchildren then a quiet week with friends calling in. Everything worked very well, including the bbq. We couldn't be happier and will definitely be back.

Latest of many stays at Green Bank in the lovely village of West Burton. A lovely large cottage, fully equipped with everything you need. A real home from home. Weather was perfect all week. Had some lovely walks, visited local tearooms and regularly played croquet on the lawn (croquet set supplied). Excellent barbecue weather. Very nice owners who check that everything is ok. Can’t wait for our next visit.

We've stayed at Green Bank many times over the years and are never disappointed. A large well-equipped and very well-maintained family home with everything you need for a comfortable holiday in the Dales whatever the weather. West Burton is a beautiful village with a small but well-stocked shop/cafe, butchers and pub. The house is situated just across from the village green with swings and football nets for younger visitors to enjoy. So many wonderful walks straight from the door and lots of lovely places to visit within easy driving distance. Already planning our return!

This is the best house we have stayed in over the last 15yrs of coming to West Burton! The cleanliness, facilities, equipment in the kitchen and the overall quality of the fixtures and fittings combined with beautifully porportioned rooms really make this stand out from the rest! No wonder its impossible to book. The owner's were very considerate about checking everything was fine for us (which it was) and clearly want people to have a great holiday.
