New footpaths to walk and new sights for us to find whilst walking on this wonderful day in the Yorkshire Dales. Setting off from Leyburn walk in the direction of Bellerby and take the narrow, steep public footpath opposite Woodside.

Follow a well walked path and come out onto the main road, A6108, cross over and walk to Cow Close. It seems such an elevated place here with views to the North York Moors on a clear day. Turn right and continue on the lane until you come to Harmby. The terrain is quite different with wheat and barley growing (I think I’m right with this). Just before Harmby you'll find the lake in the now disused quarry.

Cross over the main road to take in the pretty little waterfall here. Carry on down the steep hill to the public footpath sign on the right. Come back via the fields, lots of paths to choose, all with fantastic views across Wensleydale and towards Penhill, depending on how much further you would like to walk, so best to have a look at your map.......

Coffee and cake at the Posthorn in the market place made for the perfect ending and a little bit shopping too of course!
