A poem for our times by Stephanie Fields ‘Let the Field Grow Back’

Share

A friend sent this poem to me and I wondered if you might appreciate. Take the time to stand and stare there's always something to amaze. I'd like to say if only to look at the clouds but no small thing for me as they give so much pleasure!

Take a year off

rest

let the field grow back.

growing is not always about pushing, striving

sometimes it is about waiting until conditions are right

letting the potential bide its time

just because something lies fallow does not mean it is dormant

the grass growing under your feet does not mean that one day there won't be flowers

or potatoes

it really depends on your point of view

so rest

lay back your weary head and let the dark earth support you

you will grow back

the field will grow back

but for now

take that year off
