It was the Autumn WI lunch on Wednesday, I know, I know but occasional visitors are always welcome at our Thoralby WI, third Tuesday of the month! Our venue was the Gamekeepers Inn at Long Ashes Park near Thresfield which is quite near to Skipton. What a wonderful day we had, two ladies from the ‘Calendar Girls’ entertained us in the morning. If you ever have to chance to listen to them it is well worth trying to see them, and in the afternoon, after a delicious lunch, a guy who was on the Great Britsh Sewing Bee came to talk to us, equally entertaining.
I used to go to Long Ashes, many, many years ago but now what a difference in the spa and pool side. Enjoy full access to all their leisure centre facilities including a 16-metre swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room for four hours. Just one of the packages they provide. Stroll into the Gamekeepr’s Inn for a lovely meal. Plenty of parking around and lovely, helpful staff.
To get to Long Ashes, travel down Wharfedale a wonderful route and at this time of year, the autumn colours are just wonderful. Complete your day with a little trip to Grassington and find the places where All Creatures Great and Small are filmed, go on to Bolton Abbey or even to Skipton for a stroll.
Do come and enjoy a day to the west of the Yorkshire dales. Book one of our beautiful Country Hideaways holiday cottages. Call me, Nadine, or my daughter Joanne, on 01969 663559 for friendly help and advice or, of course, do book online if you prefer.
So looking forward to hearing from you.
