The Sandpiper Inn in Leyburn

Just off the main market place in Leyburn in Wensleydale, quite near the church, you’ll find The Sandpiper and what a find. It’s quite a few years since we’ve ventured there and I remember the meals were always excellent but things can change but no not here. Really a place to experience for yourselves if you are in Leyburn. I booked a table for four for lunch over the telephone, the person I was speaking to couldn’t have been more helpful, and we arrived to a warm welcome. Nothing was too much trouble, the surroundings were stylish yet very much in keeping with the old building and then of course, the main event, what to order! Not a massive menu, which I always feel is a good sign, but varied enough to please everyone.

Double Baked Vintage Cheddar Souffle for me which was just delicious, two in our party had the Slow-cooked Pressed Dales Lamb and Roasted Fillet of Chunky Cod for Bob. All was so nicely presented and there didn’t seem to be any complaints being muttered around the table. We just had to have a pudding, well if you don’t have a starter there’s always room for a pudding, which were equally delicious.

If you would like a treat then do give them a call to book, always best to book on 01969 622206, have a look on their website for opening times and menus. We don’t have cottages in Leyburn but all are not far away, so make a date for a holiday, come and join us here in the glorious Yorkshire Dales and book a table at The Sandpiper! Call me Nadine or my daughter Joanne on 01969 663559 to book your holiday over the telephone and for friendly help and advice or do book online if you prefer. Hear from you quite soon!
