Richmond Walking and Boot Festival 19 until 28 September 2025

We’re nearly into September which means it won’t be long before it’s the Richmond Walking and Book Festival held from 19th until 28th September, this year celebrating 20 years! Quite an achievement but still just as popular if not more so. Ten days of fabulous book events and guided walks in this wonderful part of the world in Richmond on the edge of the glorious Yorkshire Dales.

Talks, special interest walks, book binding workshops, town walks, a book fair, events for children.  Enjoy listening to famous authors including historian David Olusoga; Lucy Adlington, history wardrobe.  Crime novelist Michael Jecks will talk about The Peter Robinson Memorial, Jessica Hepburn’s Desert Island Discs talking about her life of adventure. Journalist and filmmaker Asad Qureshi recounts his time as a captive of the Taliban and many other interesting authors.

There are subject based walks let by author Annabel Abbs, north east poet Mary-Jane Holmes and artist Liz Harvey. Walks where you’ll visit Rokeby Park, Hazel Brow Farm, Nosterfield Nature Reserve, Heggs Castle. Longer more challenging walks include, Bolton Castle to Richmond Castle, Kirby Stephen to Garsdale and, of course, lots more to tempt!

We still have a few lovely cottages available for those dates, do come and join in with this wonderful event. Call me, Nadine, or my daughter Joanne, on 01969 663559 to book one of our beautiful Country Hideaways holiday cottages and for friendly help and advice or do book online if you prefer.

See you there!
