This year is the 50th anniversary of the wonderful Swaledale Festival, how time flies when you’re enjoying yourselves! An amazing programme of music, walks, films, workshops, talks, a fun day, poetry and of course, lots of talking to people in between times.
The festival starts this year with a 50th anniversary Gala Concert held in Ripon Cathedral with the Swaledale Festival Chorus and Orchestra and soloist’s performing Handel’s Messiah. From then on venues include St Mary’s in Arkengarthdale, St Andrew’s in Grinton with other venues in Swaledale, Leyburn Arts Centre, St Andrew’s in Aysgarth, just to name two coming into Wensleydale, various venues in Richmond, all within easy driving distance wherever you are in the dales. Performers are too many to mention but all information can be found on the Swaledale Festival website www.swalefest.org.
