Lovely walk from Fairhurst’s at Berry’s in Swinithwaite in a circular manner

Our walking group decided to walk from Fairhurst’s at Berry’s in Swinithwaite.  The walk was about four miles in total and easy going but the weather was not good, not good at all when we were getting ready. I really didn’t want to set off but was persuaded, as I would be, and so pleased I was as the afternoon cleared out and we had a stunning walk

When is a hamlet a village and the other way round?

I thought I might mention some of the tiny settlements in the dale and felt I had a good idea as to the difference between a hamlet and a village, i.e. the number of inhabitants or houses there but interestingly there is more to it.

Penhill, in glorious Wensleydale, twice!!

We’re off to scale the heights of Snowdon next week and so with a mind that we should be upping our training thought we should walk up Penhill, not just once but twice! If you’re up for a bit of a challenge, want to keep it local and experience the most fantastic views then read further.

Berry’s to Berry’s and Lunch!

Circular Walk from West Witton in Wensleydale

What a lovely walk the other day, easy going, panoramic views, river side walking, wildlife, seemed to have everything going for it. Start from West Witton in Wensleydale, we parked in the large layby on the east side of the village by the A684.
