For a few weeks we’ve had tickets booked for a Skipton Boat Trip with afternoon tea, the day dawned clear and blue and we set off from West Burton to have a glorious drive along Bishopdale and down Wharfedale to Skipton along the B6160. Plenty of parking, pay and display, on arrival along Water Street so that was it we were ready for the afternoon! First it was a cuppa in The Coffee House just by the side of the car park. Excellent coffee for me and Yorkshire Tea for Geoff which he was very pleased about! Feeling ready for our trip it was up and over the little bridge and down to board our boat for a two hour cruise.
We were meeting friends and we were all soon settled in our seats. Nothing was too much trouble for the guys looking after us. There is a fully licensed bar onboard, serving alcoholic and soft drinks, including excellent local beers and we felt Prosecco was a must which soon arrived. Afternoon tea next, with unlimited tea and coffee, and which includes a delicious selection of sandwiches, fruit scone with strawberry jam and cream, and delicate desserts all whilst we were sitting back smoothly gliding along the Leeds and Liverpool canal enjoying beautiful scenery.
A very pleasant, relaxing couple of hours and our weather was just perfect, but maybe it wouldn’t have mattered whatever the weather.
Come and stay in one of our beautiful Country Hideaways holiday cottages and enjoy a canal boat trip. But Skipton, the gateway to the glorious Yorkshire Dales, is well worth a visit, set off early and spend a day in the town. Visit the castle, the market, the shops, Craven Museum and Gallery and the Holy Trinity Church. Skipton has a bustling, friendly atmosphere with plenty of cafes and pubs to seek out. Call me, Nadine, or my daughter Joanne, on 01969 663559 to book over the telephone and for friendly help and advice or, of course, do book online if you prefer.
Joanne and I are very much looking forward to hearing from you!
