Happy New Year! All the very best for 2025

Well, that’s it! Here is 2025! Christmas is officially over, trimmings down yesterday and packed away for another year, the New Year was duly brought in and celebrated and now all there is to do is look forward to another year living in this wonderful part of the world, the Yorkshire Dales, and we hope you will come and join us.

Looking forward to lots of walking, Wensleydale, Swaledale, Wharfedale and all the little dales in between. Have a look on our Blog for lots of ideas. There are places to visit, Hawes, Leyburn, Richmond, Northallerton, Skipton and the list goes on, passing through all the villages to get there, could take a day to get to Hawes if each village is re explored on the way. Waterfalls to seek out. Restaurants to try, some tried and tested, some yet to sample. I’ll try and write a little about each as we go along but not promising.

Stately homes to visit such as Newby Hall and Gardens, been wanting to go the Raby Castle, apparently there has been work done on the grounds and interior now well worth a visit, never been since I was little and that’s a long time ago now! Bolton Castle to revisit, set off for a walk from there and call back for coffee or lunch, whatever. The gardens are worth a look and there are always events during the season. Richmond Castle, Middleham Castle, Skipton Castle Pendragon Castle, yes! A good walk to see that one.

More unusual visits to include The Forbidden Corner, Thorpe Perrow Arboretum and Wild Life Park, Himalayan Gardens, The Druids Temple above Ilton, again one to walk to, Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, the Wensleydale Creamery. A little further afield Castle Howard arguably one of the most recognised stately homes in Yorkshire and has been featured in several versions of Brideshead Revisited.

All our cottages are well within travelling distance of these places. Have a look on our Country Hideaways website for ideas and call me, Nadine or my daughter Joanne, on 01969 663559 for friendly help and advice and to book over the telephone or of course do book online if you prefer.

We’re looking forward to hearing from you very soon!
