Fancy a cup of excellent tea, or whatever your preference, then do try Hamilton’s Tea Room found in Aysgarth in Wensleydale in the glorious Yorkshire Dales. A really great little place with home made fare to tempt. We often go there, I suppose it’s handy for us, just up the road, but if you’re passing then do call. Park opposite in the lay-by or anywhere in the village. If you’re coming by Little White Bus the bus stop is a matter of yards away from Hamilton’s.
You’ll have plenty of banter with Steve, who is front of house, never a dull moment, but a more generous guy you couldn’t wish to have serving you and doing the cooking and baking in the kitchen is his lovely wife Sandra who does occasionally appear! Try their delicious scones and cakes, last time for me it was apricot tart, just divine. Poached egg on toast, the eggs were perfect, and lots more to choose from of course. Browse the books in the café and read the paper, sit in the garden if the weather permits, all just very pleasant. A few yards away in the direction of Hawes is the Edwardian Rock Garden, a must see. Aysgarth is the perfect place to start a walk from too, browse our blog for ideas. Stroll down to Aysgarth Falls, wander the church yard and visit St Andrew’s church, explore Freeholders Wood. For a longer walk go down to Thoralby, West Burton, across to Carperby.
Do come and stay in one of our beautiful Country Hideaways holiday cottages and visit Hamilton’s Tea Room. Call me, Nadine, or my daughter Joanne, on 01969 663559 for friendly help and advice and to book over the telephone or, of course, do book on line if you prefer.
Very much looking forward to hearing from you!
