Lion Cottage in Bainbridge in Wensleydale in the glorious Yorkshire Dales now has a beautiful new bathroom. With a large separate shower and roll top bath you’ll be able to luxuriate however you please after a day in the fresh air. Lion Cottage is a sweet cottage, perfect for two people, tucked away just off the Newkin in Bainbridge. Mellow pine blends with tasteful soft furnishings, cosy with a woodburning stove, original wide board floors and doors retained, and stone stairs winding up from the lounge. Walk in a different direction every day from this Yorkshire Dales cottage, follow the River Bain to Semerwater, the largest natural lake in Yorkshire, go east and find Lady Hill, west to Hawes. Bainbridge boasts an excellent butchers, a pub and Hazels Roost café with scones and homemade cakes you won’t be able to resist! Yorebridge House for that extra special meal, try Simonstone Hall in Simonstone and Stone House Hotel, visit Raydale preserves in Stalling Busk. Tuesday in Hawes you’ll find the weekly market but there are independently owned shops to browse, The Wensleydale Creamery, Dales Countryside Museum, The Ropemakers all to visit. Find pubs, restaurants, cafes, cobbled streets and little alleyways to explore. Visit Leyburn a little further afield, the villages of Askrigg, West Burton, Aysgarth, Hardrow, to name but a few, are all a short drive away and well worth exploring. If you’d like to stay in Lion Cottage you can arrive whichever day is convenient for you, our only stipulation is a minimum stay of three nights.
