Cottage

Description

Mistle House is an interesting conversion of a former mistle or cow byre and its associated grain stores which stands in open countryside between the villages of Laverton and Galphay. Entry to the rear of the cottage is through a tiled hallway which serves as a utility and cloakroom plus adjoining fully tiled shower room and toilet. Down two small steps from the hallway is a spacious fitted kitchen, a further four steps take you down to a low level dining room which is only partially separated from the kitchen so that conversation can continue between chef and diner. Off the dining room is a bedroom with both a double and single bed. From the kitchen double doors lead to a spacious lounge including feature stonework and a wood-burning stove with stone hearth. An external door from the lounge leads down five stone steps to a patio area and lawn.

A stairway rises from the dining room to a spacious bedroom with king-size bed and skylights to watch the stars and half tiled bathroom with bath, shower cubicle, washbasin and toilet. There are external stone steps from the garden to the bedroom which are a remnant from the days when grain was carried to the loft but are still accessible today. To the side and front of the house is a large lawn and gravelled area overlooking open rolling countryside.

The house has been skilfully designed and meticulously converted with a high quality of workmanship. The inclusion of laminate floors throughout, stained panel doors and other features such as exposed oak posts and masonry mix history and tradition within a modern context. A charming and pristine home set in a peaceful location within an unspoilt area of natural beauty, who could want for more?

We really enjoyed our stay at Mistle House, it is in a great location to visit Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal. The cottage is well located with lovely views over the countryside. The owner seems to really care about her guests which is lovely. The Cottage was all we could have asked for and we hope to return to enjoy the cottage and the area in a different season

A very comfortable cottage, very clean and well maintained. Lots of space, good heating and excellent wifi. Good views across the countryside and lots of walking and cycling from the door, with Ripon, Pateley Bridge and Masham in easy reach. saw deer, rabbits, hares and a barn owl from the house. A very relaxing stay and great value for money.

Really enjoyed our week here, everything looked lovely on arrival, Val had left a plate of delicious buns and biscuits and milk in the fridge, which we really appreciated. Cottage had everything we could possibly need and is in a lovely countryside position, perfect for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. We hope to visit again

Mistle House is in a beautiful scenic area. The house is spotlessly clean and well organised. The kitchen is very well equipped. The lounge is large and comfortable. Perfect for four adults and one child. Bedrooms are tastefully decorated. The upstairs bedroom is large and airy. As is the upstairs bathroom. The garden is pretty and there is a nice seating area with a lovely countryside view. We had a very comfortable three days stay and will definitely be booking Mistle House again.

Absolutely beautiful cottage. Very comfortable with everything you could need for a self catering holiday . All appliances worked with ease. So lovely and quiet with beautiful view across the fields. Really great owner and super nice to get cakes and flowers on arrival thank you Val. Fountains Abbey is 6 miles away , fantastic national trust estate. The Black sheep brewery is really nice and does a fantastic quiz on Thursday nights

We had a lovely stay at Mistle House. The property was great and very well equipped. Location was peaceful, plenty of walks from the door, just a bit of a walk to the pub in Galphay, however the warm welcome received made it worthwhile! Would definitely visit again.

Mistle House is a beautiful cottage in a wonderful location, assuming you want peace and quiet. There’s a real feeling of back to nature as so much wildlife can be viewed across the fields from the cottage. The cottage is spacious, and well equipped. Self catering is no problem in the very well appointed and large kitchen. In fact all rooms are large, particularly the upstairs bathroom. Overall we were very pleased with the cottage.

Second time we've stayed at the property. Rural and relaxing. Went on another visit to Wensleydale creamery in Hawes and tried out 3 different ice-cream parlours.

We have stayed in many cottages over the years and this is certainly one of the best. Warm, cosy and very comfortable and everything provided. If you enjoy peace and quiet the location is ideal and there is plenty of wild life, hares, deer, curlews etc a real joy to observe. The owners obviously pay attention to detail which enhanced the enjoyment of our stay.

The barn is very well laid out with spacious rooms. Has a homely feel to it. Gorgeous views to the side of the property with lovely sunrises to watch. Ample heating provided and WiFi is available. We were left some scrumptious cakes on arrival too. Thank you! Lots to see and do nearby, fountains Abbey, druids temple, nidderdale llamas, toft gate cafe, stump caverns, coldstones cut, ripon museums, grassington where James Herriot was filmed etc etc. We love the dales!

A great fortnight spent at Mistake House. Very comfortable and we'll equipped, high quality furnishings and spotlessly clean. Lovely country views from the house and garden, loved star gazing from the upstairs bedroom, and a very peaceful location. Good walks and bike rides from the house and easy access to the Yorkshire Dales and local towns. Enjoyed walking across fields for an excellent Sunday lunch in a village pub. Would love to return.
