Description

On the northern fringes of the town adjacent to open countryside, but only a few minutes' walk from the market place, is an area historically known for its underground wells and is still the site of an artesian well supplying the nearby Black Sheep Brewery.

Close to the brewery are a group of houses and cottages, once commercial premises associated with brewing, which were converted into dwellings in the mid-1900s and recently renovated to modern standards. Maltings is a first floor apartment at the end of a traditional stone terrace overlooking an open area with a small green. Access is through a shared entrance and stairway to the first floor landing where the apartment opens to a small hallway with a stylish and well equipped galley kitchen to the left and an ultra-modern, partially tiled bathroom with bath, electric shower, washbasin and toilet off to the right. Adjacent to the bathroom is a beautiful double bedroom and adjacent to the kitchen a cosy, comfortable lounge/dining room with a fire-effect stove.

Oak doors, exposed rafters, solid oak flooring, fashionable furnishings enriched by modern shades of white lend a very contemporary feel to this delightful abode. An apartment designed, styled and finished with patience and care to provide striking and charmingly cosy accommodation with a feeling of space that belies its size.

Perfect small pad for a rural getaway. Very convenient for pubs, village centre and riverside walks. The owners were very communicative and their attention to detail in the apartment can't be faulted.

Stayed in May and again in September as we were so pleased with everything. Mr Duggan contacted us prior to visiting on both occasions and we were pleased that he provided his contact details (including his address) in his emails. The neighbours are also nice.

We had a fabulous week at the Maltings. Everything has been well thought out. We loved the quirkiness of the kitchen and the quality of the furnishings and bedding. It was really peaceful and a great base to explore the Dales. Thank you!

My review is quite simple as it is an excellent place to stay which is fully equipped and is ideally located and is also within a few minutes walk of the town centre where most of the eateries and the TIC are located.

Everything was first class with staying at the Maltings, lovely clean apartment, fully equipped kitchen and very comfy bed! Only thing that would be better is to have a dedicated parking space as we found it hard to find a space on arriving. However did park off the road and just left car there, used the bus and did loads of walking which is what we usually do. Would highly recommend the Maltings, had a brilliant week staying there.

Everything was provided to ensure we had a relaxing holiday experience. The 1st floor accommodation was easy to access however car parking was sometimes a little difficult.
