Cottage

Description

Cobblestone Cottage sits on the edge of Bishopton, a small hamlet absorbed into Ripon's city suburbs with adjacent meadows and woodland reaching out to the River Laver. The immediate area has been recognised as a Conservation Area since 1994 and forms an exceptional architectural enclave in character and form. This pretty cottage is a modern but cosy renovation of an original cottage dating back to 1635, located near to the city, the wonderful Yorkshire Dales and Nidderdale and just a scenic walk away from the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Studley Royal Park and Fountains Abbey.

The parking area to the side of the cottage leads to a private walled patio garden and access to the cottage. Entry from here is into a spacious kitchen with breakfast bar, sparkling Victorian tiles and everything you need to prepare a delicious meal. French doors to the left of the kitchen lead to the living area at the front of the cottage. The lounge area with oak furniture and comfy arm chair and settee has a fireplace with wood-burning stove, making it a cosy place to sit during the cooler months. To the right of the kitchen a hallway gives access to a shower room with wash basin and toilet, a single bedroom and a spacious master bedroom with king-size bed, pretty cream furniture and french windows leading out to the patio garden, a perfect place to sit and relax.

The cottage provides an ideal place for a small family or couple, thoughtfully designed and completed with loving care providing all the conveniences of modern life. A perfect base to enjoy Ripon's cafes, pubs, shops, museums, galleries and cathedral or to travel to nearby Harrogate, York and Masham or a little further in to the Dales.

About The Area

Ripon

Ripon is one of the smallest and oldest cities in England, situated by the River Ure on the fringe of the Vale of York. Visit the cathedral, enjoy the Spa Gardens and sample the delights from the pubs, cafes and restaurants. Nearby is the World Heritage Site of Studley Royal and Fountains Abbey to enchant all who visit and the not too distant Yorkshire Dales to be awed and captivated by. A small city with a great Yorkshire heart.

We were very welcomed by a warm and cosy home . There were fresh flowers , cake , biscuits and savoury snacks plus a choice of alcohol in the fridge . The beds were very comfortable and had good quality bedding . There was plenty of towels . The kitchen was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need .

Thank you to Katherine for the welcome pack, flowers and for putting the heating on for our arrival. We had a very enjoyable, relaxed Christmas. This is a perfect location for leaving the car in the drive and walking into Ripon and to the many walks around Fountains Abbey. Already planning our next stay.

We really enjoyed staying at Cobblestone Cottage in Ripon. The property is first class and extremely well equipped with absolutely everything you need in the kitchen. The owner, Katherine, provided a very generous welcome pack, probably the nicest we have ever been given in any holiday cottage. I won't detail as it's a nice surprise for anyone staying. We love the hills of York Dales but often come to Ripon, and the property has a great location for walks from the door and trips further afield. We would highly recommend!

The best. Having stayed in many rental cottages over many years I can honestly say that Cobblestone Cottage is by far the best. The cottage is so welcoming, absolutely spotlessly clean and comprehensively equipped. Comfort level is A1. The owners made us very welcome with assistance on hand if needed. Location wise it is perfect for many of North Yorkshires market towns - including Herriot land - and is around a 20 minute walk into Ripon. Many National Trust properties are also close by plus Newby Hall with it's dolls house and teddy bear museums. Overall I have no hesitation in recommending Cobblestone. In fact i have already recommended to friends and family - something I have never done for previous rentals.
