Cartwheel Cottage is a delightful cottage standing on the corner of a narrow and quiet wynd linking the two main thoroughfares through the market town of Hawes in upper Wensleydale. A semi-detached, traditional stone built cottage with an adjoining garage in the heart of the town which is an ideal base for a couples or families to explore the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and all its splendours or to travel even further afield. For those who are keen fell-walkers there are hillsides aplenty on the doorstep and the Yorkshire Three Peaks only 30 minutes away.

Entry to the cottage from the wynd is to a large open plan living space with original ceiling beams and support posts, a feature fireplace with stone hearth and lintel and a large window seat to watch the world go by. To the left of the room is a well-equipped, fitted kitchen and dining area including an oak table and chairs and to the right is a snug and comfortable lounge with leather sofa and reclining leather chairs. An open balustrade stairway rises from the lounge to a landing serving a cosy double bedroom, a light and airy bunkroom, which is ideal for children, and a bathroom with bath and electric shower head, wash basin and toilet.

Cartwheel Cottage was originally renovated in 2006 but has recently been thoughtfully refurbished to highlight many of the charming and original features. These bring character to a cosy cottage with tasteful decoration and comfortable yet stylish furnishings that together provide a truly lovely cottage for a couple or family of four in the heart of Hawes. Really pleased with this cottage. The place was spotlessly clean, comfortable and had all the things you need. Complimentary cake, milk, tea and coffee was also an additional lovely gesture. We have always had great accommodation from this company and this one didn’t disappoint. Thank you.

Last minute couple of nights away, we arrived at 8pm, to lights on and lovely warm cottage. Lovely touch with the welcome tray, fruit loaf, tea, coffee and fresh milk in the fridge. Great location in the village Hawes minutes walk from the centre. The fish and chip shop highly recommended. The Tv remotes can be a bit confusing.

Found the cottage to be superbly located, clean, airy and inviting. Took a while to get used to the TV controls, but all the appliances were in good order and everything you need for a weeks stay.

Although the cottage and location was excellent the only fault I have is parking. We parked outside the garage when we arrived only to be questioned by a neighbour who wanted us to move because her husband wanted to park his works van. Obviously I didn’t otherwise we’d have no place to park. This is the only fault. The cottage is in a lovely location and nipping clean.

We had a lovely stay at Cartwheel Cottage. Perfect location, bonus parking in front of the garage doors. The cottage was perfectly equipped for us and we had cake, milk, tea and coffee waiting in the fridge for us.
