Coming up soon! Wensleydale Agricultural Show in Leyburn Saturday 26 August

Share

A traditional agricultural show set in a stunning location in Leyburn in glorious Wensleydale. The Punjab Lancers will be entertaining you in the main arena this year with their tent pegging skills. The cavalry sport, which is around 2500 years old, originated from lifting ‘tent pegs’ from the ground with a sword or lance on horseback developed by Asian armies who relied on their skill with the lance to defeat their enemies. Today’s peggers are competitive, though a little less bloodthirsty!

Mark Wylie will also show his prowess, along with his trusty sheepdog, at herding his fearless Indian Runners duck around a cunning obstacle course. Great fun!

There will also be heavy horses, cattle, sheep, ponies, carriage drives, vintage tractors and vehicles, flower and vegetable show, fun dog show, children’s fun fair, Leyburn brass band, dry stone walling, the list is endless and a really great day out for all the family to enjoy.
