Mid September and there’s a bit of nip in the air although the weatherman has said we may get higher temperatures this weekend, we wait and see. Whatever the weather the Yorkshire Dales are always glorious and each season brings it’s own delights. Autumn sees the transformation of the dales morphing from shades of green as they start to don their autumn colours before winter approaches.
But to back track a little to the months gone by to think of all the spring blossom and wild flowers we have gazed upon and which have brought such joy. Don’t you think this year has been quite exceptional for their abundance? Mild winters, wettish and warm early months and wow the perfect conditions for such flowering and now in September those that bear fruit are just joyous and laden.
When walking or just wandering you can maybe spot late flying dragonflies, butterflies if not too cold, there’ll be early emerging fungi, the last of the blooming wildflowers, and more. There are ‘apps’ for every conceivable thing you can find, always so interesting. I do try and remember the names of wildflowers but find the next year as they start to reappear I’ve forgotten most. Must try harder!
We’re looking to forward to welcoming you to this amazing part of the world where all is abundant and wonderful to behold. Stay in one of our beautiful Country Hideaways holiday cottages to enjoy to the full.
