A few Christmas events in The Yorkshire Dales

Share

Gosh, there seems to have been so much going on in the Dales, there’s hardly been time for doing the important things like wrapping presents and putting up the tree and the decorations! Are those the important things?

Just love seeing all the Christmas lights as we go about at night, a real wintry, Christmassy feel. For me I’ve been to Carol Concerts, Ripon Cathedral was such a treat with the Aysgarth School Choir and what a setting. St Matthew’s church in Leyburn invited the Leyburn Ladies Choir and East Male Voice Choir again a lovely evening to a packed house.

Incidentally we were invited to the church at Winksley, if you find yourself near Kirby Malzeard, take a detour to have a look. What a pretty church, loved and looked after and surprisingly large for such a small village. Last Monday found us at Tennants for their annual Firework Display and afterwards the Leyburn Brass Band, a delightful evening in a wonderful setting.

If you don’t tell anyone, we were let into a secret, sushhh! The Grimethorpe Band will be coming again in 2017, look out on their website for dates, will soon be sold out I’m sure. Last night we enjoyed a very nice meal at Aysgarth Falls Hotel with our walking group again one to try if you’re near. In amongst all the gallivanting I’ve just had to fit in my usual walks and to breathe in this glorious dales air and soak up the ever changing views.

Hope you’re enjoying your build up to Christmas and looking forward to the big day, wherever you may be.
