Autumn is upon us, apparently, to be precise, Monday 22nd September was the Autumnal Equinox. Feel it just passed me by with all this wonderful weather we are still having. Okay I know, we have had rain in the last few days but really who can complain, the sun just keeps on shining and, I for one, think it’s great.
Autumn in the Yorkshire Dales can be truly glorious and sometimes seems as if you can’t tell the difference, when the colours are really at their height, between autumn and spring. We haven’t got to that stage yet but will be happening in the next couple weeks. Although in the back of my mind I’m hoping it will. Will the long drought have changed anything? Only time will tell, as they say.
Anyone with a fruit tree will know how good a year it’s been, plums, apples, damsons, pears and now it’s time to go picking the sloes. Rosehips and all the other little seeds and fruits that the birds and animals just love are all waiting. Our squirrel has been busy burying walnuts and horse chestnuts, although we know he, or she, won’t ever come across them again but we will when they start to appear in the lawn!
Come and enjoy autumn in the glorious Yorkshire Dales with us. Book one of our beautiful Country Hideaways holiday cottages, call me, Nadine, or my daughter Joanne, on 01969 663559 to book over the phone and for friendly help and advice or do book online if you prefer.
We’re looking forward to seeing you soon!
