Today, August Bank Holiday Monday, you couldn't wish for a more perfect day in the wondrous Yorkshire Dales.
We decided to walk from West Burton to Thoralby, along Goose Lane, turn right and walk along Spickles Lane (as known to the locals, Eastfield Lane on the map) come out at Eshington Bridge and back through the fields to West Burton, just over two and half miles easy going. Although you are walking in the flat valley there are wonderful views as you go along, take time to gaze, take some photos, just breathe!
When finally back to West Burton do spend some time here, you will probably already have parked by the green or at the waterfall area, maybe you arrived on The Little White Bus, or you may even be staying here in one of our holiday cottages, whatever, there's no rush. Have a wander round, there's a Cat Pottery, Smithy Antiques (not always open through the week or open by appointment), the Fox and Hounds for pub grub and local ales.
Make your way to the Cauldron Falls at the bottom of the green or just sit and recover on one of the many benches dotted around the village green and enjoy the world going by.
