It would seem so, 14 July saw the Hawes and District Gala, plus the Party in the Park held at Catterick Racecourse following a very successful first event in 2017, the Leyburn 1940’s weekend 21 and 22 July, Richmond Live 3 and 4 August, GeorgeFest 18 until 27 August, Leyburn Agricultural Show on 25 August and Reeth Show 27 August. Kilnsey Show 28 August and the Nidderdale Show 24 September marking the last of the year’s agricultural shows just a few of the events going on in the dales. Exciting annual events not to be missed!

GeorgeFest is back this summer with a ten-day festival from 18 until 27 August, celebrating Richmond’s rich Georgian heritage. A packed programme of fascinating guided walks and talks, there are many events that reveal some of the town’s hidden Georgian treasures. There will also be films, singing, dancing, gin-drinking and merrymaking, as well as the opportunity to find out more about the secret diaries of an elusive 18th-century Richmond resident!

Wensleydale Agricultural Show is a traditional dales show, located close to Leyburn, North Yorkshire in the heart of Wensleydale on 25 August. Wensleydale Show features an extensive range of competitive events for livestock such as sheep, cattle, horses and poultry. There will be over 60 classes in poultry alone, ranging from large fowls to true bantams and an egg section. There are also horticultural and handicraft classes.

Reeth Show is a traditional Dales Agricultural Show held in Reeth and has always been a great family day out in the beautiful Dale of Swaledale.

Kilnsey Show first took place 1897 – Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee year and this year is on 28 August. It’s keynote aim – as today – is to promote and showcase life and farming in the Yorkshire Dales, notably the breeding of livestock, along with crafts and rural traditions. Well over a century on, Kilnsey Show & Sports, staged in the shadow of the famous Kilnsey Crag, has expanded and diversified to become one of the county’s largest one-day agricultural shows, one of the best known of its kind in the northern calendar, attracting competitors and visitors from near and far. A great family day out, Kilnsey Show offers an enjoyable taste of life in the countryside.

‘Pateley Show’, as the Nidderdale Show is affectionately known, is a traditional Dales agricultural Show where visitors can browse a wonderful display of the finest livestock, produce and crafts that the Dales have to offer. The Annual Nidderdale Show, held in the picturesque surrounds of Bewerley Park, Pateley Bridge, is one of the county’s foremost agricultural shows. It regularly attracts crowds of 15,000 and traditionally marks the end of the agricultural show season.
