The Work of the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust

Share

As mentioned in a previous email we were invited to a Supporters Lunch at the Himalayan Gardens and Sculpture Park by the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust and as you can imagine there was a brief talk about the work of this small charity.

Joanne and I, and as I’m sure perhaps a lot of you would think, that they just raise money to plant trees, this as we found out is not the case at all, find out more here https://www.ydmt.org/how-we-work. To quote from some of their literature ‘The Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust is a small charity doing big things to protect the environment, conserve the natural heritage and support communities in this area’.

Over the years they helped deliver of 1,200 inspiring projects worth over £25 million throughout the Yorkshire Dales, no mean fete for such a small charity. Projects include supporting hundreds of community projects, help to protect threatened habitats, provide countryside apprenticeships, creating native woodlands, improving access to the countryside for everyone, restoring hay meadows and a whole lot more. Possibly a few of you have joined in with the annual events of Flowers of the Dales Festival, some of their skills workshops, even joined in a sponsored walk. My daughter, Joanne, walked 14 miles this Saturday, up Ingleborough and on to Settle to raise money. Well done to her for completing the journey along with the others who walked with her.

If you feel you would like to give to this very worthy charity please do so here, you know it will only take a moment! https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/country-hideaways
