A beautiful walk from West Burton into Bishopdale, not to be missed!
Yes, we are in lockdown but the Yorkshire Dales are still here waiting for you whenever you’re ready and able to return. January 2021 hasn’t been the best of months weather wise, it is winter after all, or has it just seemed so because of the situation we are all in. However on a good, clear, very still day with the ground hard and crunchy under foot I set off in the direction of Bishopdale.
A walk from West Burton of bridges, valleys, a couple of villages and stunning views
On a very windy January morning I set off from home in West Burton, didn’t really know where I felt like walking but in the end had a walk with stunning views, easy valleys, a couple of villages and survived the wind! About five miles depending on detours.
West Burton, Thoralby, Bishopdale, Aysgarth and home in a circular manner
If you're looking for a longer walk, then set off from West Burton, about nine and a half miles, or a shorter one, set off from Thoralby. Please do make sure you plan your route on the map before hand and wear appropriate footwear and clothing. Always take a drink and a snack, if not lunch, with you.
Bluebells, Aysgarth Falls, Thoralby, Newbiggin, West Burton
It’s May and the time of year for bluebells and they are quite magnificent, must have been the perfect weather for them. We do have lots of places where you can wander through bluebell woods, Hackfall Wood and Nutwith Wood near Masham, Cauldron Falls at West Burton, Freeholders Wood near Aysgarth Falls but thought it would be nice to combine a walk with bluebells, spectacular views and not too far. So…………………..
