On 21 November, Country Hideaways was invited to an exclusive night for the opening of Alice In Winterland at Lightwater Valley, so of course I said that I would like to go too. On our drive up to the car park, through the trees we could see some lovely brightly coloured lights. ‘What are they?’ we all thought. When we went in, one of the first things we saw was a pair of upside-down blue legs in a hole – obviously this was Alice when she falls down the rabbit hole. We looked to our left and there was a giant rabbit lantern, and we hadn't even seen anything compared to what was on its way!
The fairground was open, and the lights were so nice in the dark. There were hot drinks too, and most importantly… Doughnuts! We grabbed a doughnut and a hot chocolate and we hopped on a couple of the rides, then we went through the lanterns, and, without giving spoilers, it was simply fantastic! There are over 100 lanterns on the trail, with interactive buttons to tell parts of the stories ‘Alice In Wonderland’ and ‘Alice Through The Looking Glass’.
I think my favourite lantern was definitely the bread-butterfly. It was so cute in its own little way!
This experience was definitely too good to miss and it's on until 30 December. It was so fun to go around at your own pace and just walk through the stories.
