Redmire to Castle Bolton, Dent’s House, Preston under Scar and back to Redmire

I know I keep on saying this but I am still amazed as to how many footpaths I haven’t walked, it’s really quite mind boggling as to how many miles of paths and tracks there are in the glorious Yorkshire dales and Nidderdale and how they intertwine with one another. Make long walks, short walks, whatever length of walk and you could still put in a stretch that’s unwalked although most certainly by many others past and present. Please plan your route beforehand, take the map and perhaps a compass if you’re unsure.

No long hills, easy going, wonderful views, about 6 miles in a circular manner, what more could you want with a walk? We parked in Redmire, there is a designated parking area at the top of the green. From here you’ll see a footpath sign pointing in a northerly direction to the left of the parking area. Take this path and keep going steadily up hill, pass over the railway line (don’t forget to look and listen) and continue on uphill until you reach a road/track and turn right and walk to the end to meet the road.

This year you can see all the wonderful artwork created by residents in one small Dales village on Friday 15th to Sunday 17th July, 10am until 6pm each day. You can browse wall art and photography downstairs and 3D, wearable and functional art upstairs. Come and have a look, enjoy a cup of tea, coffee and biscuits and maybe buy something beautiful to take home with you. There will also be a donations box for this year's chosen charity, Marie Curie.
