Aysgarth Falls

Aysgarth in Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales

St Andrew's Church in Aysgarth, Wensleydale, Yorkshire Dales

A small linear village sitting along side the A684 midway between Hawes and Leyburn. The village may be small but well worth a visit as there are the magnificent Aysgarth Falls to see, a stroll round the majestic church of St Andrews, an Edwardian Rock Garden and various cafes and pubs. Now this might sound as if Aysgarth is much larger than the first impression given and I suppose the main village is separate to the falls area but well within walking distance to one another. Park your car in the village or in one the two car parks near to the falls and be entranced for a few hours.

I can’t believe I’ve been writing a blog for so long and haven’t written about Aysgarth Falls. There might have been mention within walks on here but not specifically about the falls. I suppose if you’ve visited the glorious Yorkshire Dales you will know of the falls, if not, indeed, have visited them already! If so you will know what a wonderful sight these can be, whether in dry weather or in wet when in full flood. A great place, in the better weather, to take a picnic and just lay back and listen to water flowing by.

Carperby to Aysgarth Falls in the glorious Yorkshire Dales

The weather may have been a bit inclement last Tuesday but our walking group still had a most enjoyable walk from Carperby through the fields to Aysgarth Falls in the glorious Yorkshire Dales. Its years since I’ve been to Freeholder’s Wood which surrounds the falls. Take time to explore, take the kids, there’s so much to find and enjoy in and amongst the trees as you go along. I feel we maybe even got a little lost in there, but not for long, the wood isn’t so big!
