If you plan to have a day in Knareborough you’re sure to have a lovely yet interesting time. Knaresborough is found in between Harrogate and Ripon next to the River Nidd. Famed for its, by now, iconic view over the River Nidd towards the viaduct there is more to Knaresborough than just a view to find.
Stroll round Knaresborough Castle and museum which overlooks the River Nidd. Seek out Mother Shipton’s Cave and Petrifying Well, supposedly the oldest entrance charging visitor attraction in England, set in a unique, unspoilt remnant of the Royal Forest of Knaresborough. I remember visting as a little girl and being quite spooked by the petrified objects, very weird!
Hire a boat and gently sail along part of the River Nidd, a peaceful journey to be savoured on a sunny day. Walk through the Nidd Gorge Woods and soak up the views and the ambiance there.
There’s a pretty square to wander round as well as little streets off, shops, café’s, pubs. Wander down to the station, quite an interesting place too, or even catch the train to Harrogate if you wish.
We have The Hay Loft in Ripon and cottages in Masham, an easy ride to Knaresborough. Call me Nadine or my daughter Joanne on 01969 663559 for help and advice and to book over the telephone or please do book online if you wish. Hear from you quite soon!
