Description and Location
Cartwheel Cottage, a delightful cottage, stands on the corner of a narrow wynd linking the two main thoroughfares through Hawes. A semi-detached stone built cottage with garage attached, perfect for couples or families looking for a great base to explore Hawes and The Dales.
Entry is from the wynd into an open plan living space with original beams and posts and deep window sills. To the left is a well equipped fitted kitchen and dining area and to the right is a lounge area with original stone fireplace, leather sofa and chairs, and window seat to sit and watch the world go by.
A stairway rises from the lounge to a central landing which leads to a bathroom with bath, electric shower over the bath, washbasin and toilet; a light and airy bunkroom ideal for children and a cosy double bedroom.
Cartwheel Cottage has been carefully renovated to highlight many of the charming and original features. These bring character to a cosy cottage with tasteful decoration and comfortable furnishings that together provide a very good standard of accommodation.
Hawes sits close to the banks of the meandering river Ure, almost at the head of Wensleydale. This town for all seasons is a traditional dales market town, small in size but with a large character. The town has grown and developed over the past 300 years creating narrow wynds and side streets around the market place that are a delight to explore. The town is popular with tourists and in spite of its rugged appearance is noted for the welcome and warmth provided by the pubs, restaurants and shops that satisfy every visitor’s need.
