Cottage Description

Welcome to Yorkshire Member Yorkshire Visitor Information Yorkshire Cycling Charter

Holme View is a stone built end terraced cottage on The Avenue, one of the main routes into Masham, adjacent to open countryside with riverside walks just a moment away. On the Northeast fringes of the town the houses line one side of The Avenue overlooking the River Ure near Masham Great Bridge. The road is tree-lined with mature limes that were planted in 1875 to mark the coming of the railway which later closed in 1963. Separating The Avenue from the river is open parkland known locally as The Shooting Holme which has adjacent tennis courts and playing fields, a convenient and pretty route to walk to the market place which is only minutes away.

Holme View has a garden to the front and a small, flagged patio garden at the rear which backs onto Avenue Bank, a residential cul-de-sac running parallel to The Avenue. To the side is a short driveway and single car garage with access from Avenue Bank. Access to the cottage is either from front or rear but for parking convenience it is better to use the rear entrance.

Entry is over the patio garden and to the hallway with access to a modern, well equipped kitchen to the left, which overlooks Avenue Bank. To the front of the cottage is the spacious, comfortable lounge/dining room with inset wood-burning stove and tiled hearth. There is a front entrance porch off the lounge which leads to the front garden and The Avenue.

A pine stairway rises from the hall to a landing serving two bedrooms, one with twin beds, which will join to form a super king-size bed, at the front and a further bedroom at the rear with king-size bed. Central to the landing is a stylish bathroom with bath, showerhead, washbasin and toilet.

There are pleasant views to the riverside and the 'Holme' from the lounge and front bedroom. A modern, tasteful cottage not lacking in character or tradition, light and airy with excellent quality furniture, pretty drapes and excellent fitments will please anyone who could choose to stay here and, of course, perfectly situated to help enjoy all the Yorkshire Dales has to offer.
