Cottage

Description

The much acclaimed village of West Burton boasts a large, sloping green at its heart but arrival and departure from the green is through two narrow roads known as Front and Back Nooks. In the Front Nook Hazeley Cottage, a delightful cottage for four, stands elevated from the roadway viewing down the road and towards the lower slopes of Penhill with the village green and Cauldron falls around the corner, just a moments walk away. The cottage is a single story dwelling and was originally the coach house for The Mount which is one of the grander adjacent houses overlooking the green. It has been recently renovated and provides a high standard of accommodation.

Access from the road is up five small steps to a patio garden which runs the full length of the cottage. Alternatively there is also a separate vehicle and level pedestrian access to a private parking area to the rear of the cottage which also serves three other properties and is linked to Hazeley by a private, wide gravel path. The patio garden is perfect for sitting in the sun and gazing at the wonderful view from the lower patio.

There are two entrance doors from the patio, one to the dining room and the other, preferred entrance opening to a stylish, well-equipped kitchen with everything needed for family catering. To the left of the kitchen is a dining room which in turn leads down two small shallow steps to a comfortable lounge with an electric stove, oak flooring and a large bow window with window seat which views over the patio, down the nook and also over the fields to the lower slopes of Penhill.

To the right of the kitchen a hallway with a cloak hanging area gives access to a bathroom with bath, overhead shower, washbasin and toilet and two bedrooms, one with a super king bed, which can be made into two singles if you prefer, and a bedroom with twin beds.

A lovely cosy cottage bordering a long patio garden which is a beautiful sun trap, just perfect for those alfresco wine and dine evenings. The rooms are quite modern in concept but uphold the traditional with oak doors and a blend of oak and pine furniture mixed with antique items. West Burton is in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales and is a great base to explore from with easy access to many footpaths that cross the dales and a good centre for travelling around the Dales National Park and beyond by car or by bicycle too!

What a gem of a property! A lovely, cosy and warm retreat. Stunning location, a short walk to the beautiful cauldron waterfall, magnificent views and backdrop of Penhill. The village has great amenities, catering for most things. Shop, tea room, butchers and pub serving great food and good beer. Enjoyed every second of our stay! Thanks

It was a lovely cottage in a quiet village . It had everything we needed for a relaxing week. It is dog friendly, which was a bonus, but the garden is not completely secure. No through traffic and the Cauldron Falls nearby. A short walk to the village shop, butchers and pub.

Lovely cosy cottage with everything we needed for our week’s stay. We particularly liked the spacious kitchen and the big fridge which when you are self catering is so welcome to fit all the food and drink in! Early morning coffee on the patio watching the swifts and sheep on the hill was just so special. Would definitely recommend

A lovely, well equipped cottage nestling in a beautiful village with a shop, pub and waterfall. West Burton is close to Leyburn, Hawes, Castle Bolton, Aysgarth Falls and many other attractions. We had some lovely walks and enjoyed the views, the sheep and the cattle and the overall peaceful nature of the area. Some great pubs and restaurants nearby so you don't need to cook if you don't want to. A very comfortable and restful stay.

Lovely cottage, with all the amenities and facilities needed in a beautiful village. Plenty of local walks, West Burton falls in the village are great. Village pub does nice home made food and fish n chips from the van on a Tuesday evening was most enjoyable. Lots of places to visit in the area. We went to Hawes and walked to Hardrow Force then to the creamery for a delicious meal afterwards. A wide array of cheeses to taste and buy from their shop too. White Scar Caves is worth a visit and a walk at Ribbleshead Viaduct afterwards. Not too far to walk to Aysgarth Falls from the cottage and also up to Morpeth Scar which has fabulous views. It would be nice if there was a mirror in the twin bedroom and also if there was a mirror close to a socket so that you can see when dryng hair. Great communication and easy booking with Country Hideaways. Thanks. Would recommend.

Lovely cottage, well-equipped. Lovely and warm every time we came in, despite it was January and cold outside. Lovely location, especially for walkers, plenty of footpaths. Easy to reach places such as Aysgarth Falls, Creamery at Hawes, Leyburn.

We have stayed in West Burton a number of times. This was a first in Hazeley Cottage. We were not disappointed. The bungalow is comfortable, and well equipped in all areas. Although we like to try different places we may well return to enjoy the village and Hazeley Cottage.

Our first visit to this part of the Dales did not disappoint. With mixed weather we still found plenty to do and were rewarded with glorious walks on a couple of sunny days. It’s a bonus being able to start walks from West Burton. The cottage has been thoughtfully put together as a holiday let - thank you!

Very comfortable cottage in a nice village. Good shop and pub, Tea room has great cake which you can take away or eat in Fri, Sat & Sun. Waterfall is very close and you can pop down for a relaxing swim if you are brave enough.

Hazeley cottage is very clean, spacious, comfortable and ideal for people who are unable to manage stairs. The local shop and the butchers are excellent and have everything you need. We intend to return to Hazeley Cottage next year and enjoy another lovely week in the dales. Thank you to Country Hideaways for their help with the initial booking and also during our stay.

We booked Hazely Cottage for a last minute short break. Always wary of properties available for this at a popular time of year (end of May), but Hazely was a great place to stay. Its a long bungalow layout that has been converted nicely. Great provision of everything you need in the kitchen, no minimal handful of things here, and some tea coffee and milk provided to set you away, this makes a difference. Set right in the delightful West Burton, you can get back and then still have a lovely stroll around yhe Green, or wander to the river/waterfall. What's not to like. For us, if there was one thing to consider, it's where you park. OK, designated space with short walk to the property, but we ended up having to park at the green as every day the car was covered in tree sap, sticky seed pods and I think wood pigeons roost in the tree over the space as the car was splattered and I'm talking major poop fest here (wow), with droppings of gigantic proportion! If you love car washing, park in the designated space. We would recommend Hazeley for a couple, or 2 adults and 2 children, maybe tight for 4 adults. My work PC monitor is larger than the TV, just a few more inches would do it, but realise its a personal thing.

We were struggling to find a property to stay in, in our favourite location of West Burton. My husband came across the property and after a little bit more investigation we opted to book our stay. Such an amazing place. The views are amazing. Property is perfect. Comfortable, clean and in a perfect spot for the village. Highly recommend a stay in this cottage

We had a good weekend at Hazeley Cottage. The property was comfortable and very well equipped, and warmed up once we worked out how the electric radiators worked. The village shop and pub were good, and the shop very friendly and well stocked supplying nice bread, fresh vegetables, milk and orange juice.

Extremely comfortable and well equipped. It felt more like a home than a holiday let. Whilst the cottage had neighbours there was no noise and the small courtyard garden quite private. Close to many lovely places. Probably the best property we have stayed in and would not hesitate to recommend.

This was our second stay at Hazeley ... a perfect cottage for 4 people in this beautiful Dales village. Comfortable and well-equipped with everything you need for a week away! Just around the corner from the village green, shop, butchers and pub, and a stone's throw away from the waterfall with so many wonderful walks straight from the door. As always, one week in this beautiful part of the Dales wasn't enough!

The cottage is well furnished and comfortable. The only downside is that the parking for the cottage is not ideal. However there is plenty of parking on the green but it is a distance from the cottage.

My stay in Hazeley Cottage in West Burton, Leyburn was great. Joanne and her husband were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. I enjoyed the comfort of the cosy cottage, a very well equipped kitchen and a grand bathroom. The beds were of high quality and I slept very well! I had a wonderful time in this beautiful part of England. The walking in a stunning landscape, good food and a friendly chat in the nice local shop will stay in my memory. Thank you! I can only highly recommend this place. Stefanie from Ludwigshafen, Germany.

A great cottage in a lovely village! Clean and comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen, plenty of hot water for soaking in the bath after long walks, snug beds and curtains with black-out linings for a great nights sleep, and all within easy walking distance of the beautiful waterfall, village green, butchers, shop/cafe and pub. Just wish we could have stayed for longer!

West Burton is a lovely village and this not far from the green. It is clean and the beds very comfortable. The WiFi is excellent for entertainment. Though it doesn't have much of a view or garden it still represents excellent value for money.

There is much to like at Hazeley Cottage. A clean peaceful cottage in West Burton with off road parking and good facilities including outside seating in the patio garden area. For us the beds were a little on the firm side and we did miss having the convenience of a washing machine in the property for muddy walking gear etc but there is plenty of room in the kitchen so maybe this could be an improvement for the future.

We loved our stay at Hazeley cottage; it was our first time visiting West Burton, and what a great location! The cottage is just a few meters away from Cauldron Falls, on a very quiet road. The village green with its pub and store is equally close. Great walks to Aysgarth Falls, West Witton and up Penhill. The cottage itself is very well equipped and felt very spacious for three. The kitchen had everything to offer that we needed to cook our meals, including basic supplies of salt, pepper, tea and coffee, and we were grateful for the milk in the fridge. We spent our evenings in the cosy lounge and our 10 year old claimed the rocking chair for herself. Comfortable beds finished off the experience. Communication around our stay was excellent. Thank you!

We were very lucky to be able to rent this cottage at short notice when we had to cancel our holiday in Italy due to the need to quarantine on arrival there . This cottage was available as a holiday let for the first time which was why it was available at short notice . The cottage is a converted coach house and beautifully appointed throughout . The kitchen and bathrooms are modern with modern appliances and the shower is a proper shower and not a trickle . There are some beautiful items of period furniture which completely complement the cottage and help create a relaxing ambience .The cottage is a bungalow but the bedrooms are at the far end of the cottage and furthest away from the lounge so ensuring peace at night for any early to bed guests .There is good quality double glazing throughout . The village is in a very scenic location and retains its original charm . It is effectively in a dead end ( apart from access to a couple of farms ) so it is in a quiet location with no thundering through traffic which blights so many Dales villages . West Burton is a perfect location to access the mid and eastern Dales and conveniently located between Hawes and Leyburn . The village green is a great space for kids with a small playground and football goals for any budding ballers . The local pub and shop/ tearoom are welcome amenities . All in all a lovely cottage in a perfect location
